Hankook Tire's exclusive EV tire, "iON evo SUV," earns the highest “Exemplary” rating by Germany’s most prestigious automotive magazine

Seoul, Korea, April 23, 2024 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire)’s iON evo SUV, a high-performance tire specially designed for electric vehicles, has received the highest rating, “Exemplary” in a tire test conducted by the German automotive magazine Auto Bild. Through this, a company once again garnered recognition for its state-of-the-art technology as the forefront leader in the electric vehicle tire market.

Auto Bild is Germany’s most respected automotive magazine, renowned for its performance evaluations of vehicles and tires. The recent evaluation compared eight global tire brands on electric vehicles, meticulously assessing the critical performance features crucial for enhancing the high performance of electric SUVs. The test focused on 11 evaluation criteria, including braking, rolling resistance, handling, and noise.

The iON evo SUV was appraised as the best choice among EV tires having good dynamics and balanced driving performance. It emerged as the top performer in dry braking and pass-by-noise categories, both pivotal for ensuring EV driving performance and safety.

As the world’s first full line-up of electric vehicle tires, iON has garnered accolades for its exceptional performance and design in tests conducted by prominent automotive publications and esteemed global design awards.

Since Hankook Tire launched the performance tire "iON evo," the brand's initial product in 2022, it subsequently released the all-season tire "iON evo AS" and winter tire "iON i*cept," and recently introduced the all-weather tire "iON FlexClimate" in Europe in October 2023. The brand has consistently demonstrated superior performance in comparative tests conducted by the renowned global testing and certification organization, TÜV SÜD, surpassing similar products from other leading global brands.

In April 2023, the iON evo aced Auto Bild’s EV tire test with top scores in four categories: wet road braking, dry road braking, rolling resistance, and handling. Simultaneously, the tire clinched the top prize in the product category at the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award, esteemed as two of the world's foremost design accolades. This signifies exceptional competitiveness at the global level in terms of both performance and design.
