The starting shot was fired earlier today in Oberstdorf, one of Germany's top winter sport locations for the 65-day marathon ride to the final stage, which ends on Sylt, the country's most northern island. Neu-Isenburg, Germany, September 29, 2020 - Premium tire maker Hankook supports the “ID.3 Germany Tour” with its all-new UHP (Ultra High Performance) winter tires Winter i*cept evo 3, which are fitted in size 215/55 R18 99V XL on the campaign vehicle. The ambitious goal of the project is to test the national fast-loading network. Over 600 VW dealers and charging stations are part of the itinerary. Driver of the unique marathon journey through Germany is Rainer Zietlow from CHALLENGE4 agency, who already has significant experience with long-distance rides and holds world records on all continents. He is accompanied by co-driver Dominic Brüner. The tour includes visits to Hankook's European headquarters in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt am Main and to the company's European research and development center in Hanover. “Our new Winter i*cept evo 3 winter tire gets the chance to prove its outstanding characteristics during the marathon tour with the VW ID.3 across Germany during the beginning winter season. The new Winter i*cept series of tires, now in its third version, is already market available in 95 dimensions and, for the first time in the Hankook UHP winter tire range, has a directional tread design. Europe's leading automotive magazine Auto Bild had already independently subjected the tread to an extensive performance test and awarded the Hankook Winter i*cept evo 3 with the top mark “Exemplary”. The route the CHALLENGE4 team will take, covers all four corners of Germany and has been planned by the Institut for transport logistics (ITL) at the Technical University of Dortmund. The tour starts at the southernmost hotel of Germany on September 28th at 3 p.m. and ends at the northernmost car park of Germany, west of List on the island Sylt. As well as the stops in Neu-Isenburg and Hanover, the team of CHALLENGE4 will also stop at the charity SOS Kinderdorf in Bernburg, which is going to be supported with a donation for a residential project. Products Hankook Tire introduces second-generation electric vehicle tire, Kinergy AS EV 2018. 08. 27 - The Kinergy AS EV is engineered to be a perfect companion for the next generation of electric vehicles - The tire features an aggregation of advanced technology with hyper-low noise as well as improved driving and comfort August 27, 2018 (Seoul, Korea) - Global leading tire maker Hankook Tire introduced its second-generation electric vehicle tire, the Kinergy AS EV, which features strengthened handling and noise-reducing capabilities that are optimized for today's cutting-edge electric vehicles. Compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles have lower engine noise, higher initial acceleration and bodies that are 10 to 20 percent heavier. In order for electric vehicles to achieve optimal performance, they need tires designed to complement these unique characteristics. The Kinergy AS EV is engineered to meet the increasingly demanding specifications of electric vehicles. It provides a hyper-low noise environment suitable for electric vehicles and a comfortable riding and supreme driving performance on par with ultra-high performance tires. Electric vehicles are free from engine noise, which makes road and tire noise more noticeable, and in turn noise reduction is of utmost importance for comfort driving. The hyper-low noise environment is created with application of advanced noise reduction technologies. The Kinergy AS EV shows maximum quietness by applying techniques that reduce the noise produced from tire and the road. Technology to reduce a certain frequency that incurs when driving through optimum pitch arrangement was also applied. Electric vehicles are usually heavier than normal vehicles, so each tire needs to take on more load stress. In order to cover the extra weight, the Kinergy AS EV is produced with the best material that can currently be applied to tires, the Aramid Hybrid reinforcement belt, and employs extra-load reinforcement structure. This allows little or no increase in diameter even in high-speed driving and minimizes tread block distortion when changing direction, thereby maintaining optimum grip force to provide exquisite handling performance and significantly improve handling stability. Another key improvement is the application of Aqua Pine compound, resin extracted from conifers and consist of environment-friendly vegetable oil. With the new compound, performance improves on wet roads, securing agile handling and braking in all road conditions. To meet these special requirements, Hankook engineers have equipped the EV tire Ventus S1 evo 3 ev with a double-layer carcass made of a specially developed high-performance fibre. It offers very high stability with a low tare weight relative to its size. Also important is the tread compound of the Ventus S1 evo 3 ev, which - for excellent grip in wet and dry conditions - has been adapted to the needs of very high drive torque deploying electric vehicles, while optimizing rolling resistance at the same time. In the 20-inch dimensions, an additional steel-based reinforcement is also used in the bead area due to the reduced sidewall height, which contributes to further increased sidewall stiffness. In addition to a precise fit of the tire on the rim, this also ensures particularly sporty, direct steering response. The Hankook SEALGUARD® sealing technology applied in the Hankook 19-, 20- and 21-inch dimensions for the VW ID.4 automatically seals punctures up to 5mm in diameter within the tire's tread area. SEALGUARD® offers the advantage that even in the unlikely event of a nail puncture, for example, a trip can be continued without any problems and the tire does not need changing. Therefore, a spare wheel no longer needs to be carried in SEALGUARD®-equipped vehicles, providing additional space in the boot, saving weight, and eliminating the need for a potentially dangerous wheel change at the roadside. In addition to their safety benefits, tires equipped with Hankook's SEALGUARD® technology continue to offer the usual comfort, as their basic construction does not differ from tires without SEALGUARD®. Numerous leading vehicle manufacturers are already equipping their electric and hybrid models with Hankook EV tires as a standard fitment because Hankook continuously invests in research and development and is well prepared for the changes in the mobility industry.
