Seoul, Korea, March 13, 2024 – The 2024 season opening of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo racing series, hosted by Italian supercar brand Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A and exclusively supplied with racing tires by the world’s leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire), will be held in Florida, USA for three days, from March 13 to 15 (local time).
Hankook Tire, which exclusively supplies the high-performing racing tire Ventus for the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and provides technical support, successfully contributed to the 2023 racing season and plans to showcase its global top-tier technology and premium brand value once again by fully supporting Lamborghini’s high-speed racing vehicles this year.
During the last season, Hankook Tire’s Ventus immediately captivated the eyes of global motorsports fans with its top-level racing tire technology and its fantastic synergism with the Lamborghini Huracán, demonstrating excellent traction and handling performance in various climates, and even in extreme driving conditions in different countries around the world.
Notably, the drivers who won the championship trophy last season unanimously praised the racing performance of Ventus. The 2023 season North American Series Champions Kyle Marcelli and Daniel Formal of Wayne Taylor Racing said, “The performance of Ventus was a big driving force in winning the championship,” and gestured with a big thumbs up.
Sebring International Raceway, where the opening race is to be held, occupies part of the former Hendricks Army Airfield and is unique for its combination of racecourse and road course using runways and taxiways. The circuit is known for its difficult tire management: it was designed with a concrete road surface, which places a huge burden on tires performing at high speeds; it is more slippery than asphalt in rainy weather; and big differences in road surface temperature result when the daily temperature fluctuates.
Despite such a difficult road environment, Hankook Tire will only further galvanize excitement for extreme racing by maximizing the performance of the Lamborghini Huracán with the excellent grip and handling performance of Ventus.
The 2024 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series will be held across three racing series in four continents, starting in North America in March, followed by Europe, Asia, and Australia. Each series will last for six rounds. The winners of each series will gather for the grand championship at the Jerez De La Frontera Circuit in Spain in November.
Hankook Tire has been making a sustained effort to enter the supercar field for a long time through constant research and development, resource investment, and vehicle testing. While conducting vehicle tests and collecting tire data on high-performance vehicles of the same class or higher is essential for a partnership with a supercar brand, Hankook Tire has devoted itself to securing specialized tire technology for high-performing vehicles by investing generously in new product research and development and securing vehicles of the global supercar brands for further research and preemptive tire tests.
